FFACE members participate in The Creators Conference

Bernard Grimaldi, John Groves and Chris Smith were the FFACE members who participated in this event.
The Creators Conference on music, creativity and author¡s rights organized by the creators themselves has taken place in the Théâtre du Vaudeville, Brussels, on the 3rd of February of 2012.

Alfons Karabuda, current chairman of ECSA, welcomed the participants and audience. The first panel was opened by Paul Brickhill, Harare Book Cafe where “Content” was discussed by Bernard Grimaldi -French composer-, Kjartan Olafsson -Icelandic composer-, Alain Chamfort -French singer&songwriter- and Sarah Rodgers -Bristish composer and conductor.
“Freedom of choice”, the second panel, counted on Helienne Lindvall -Swedish composer&journalist-, Helga Trupel -MEP-, Jean Bergevin -Fight against Piracy-, Andy Baum, Austrian singer&songwriter, Barbara Glowacka -DG Competition-, Rick Carnes -Songwriters Guild of America- and Robert Levine -Author-. Chair: Patrick Rackow.
The third panel “A Creative leap forward” was opened by María Martín-Prat -Head of Unit “Copyright”. Helen Smith -IMPALA-, Jorg Evers -ASCAP Award winner and composer-, Tanya Apli -Kings College London-, Alfons Karabuda -Chairman of ECSA- and Sabino Mendez -Spanish composer were in the debate.
Finally, John Groves -composer and music producer- gives way to the fourth panel “Take it or Leave it”. Chair: Ignasi Guardans. Eva Lichtenberger -MEP-, Jean-Marie Moreau -French songwriter, Staffan Nilsson -President EESC-, Chirs Smith -British composer-, Arne Konig -President of the European Federation of Journalist closed the intense and outstanding conference.


ALBERTO IGLESIAS nominated for Oscar

Alberto Iglesias, member of FFACE Musimagen, nominated for the Academy Award, Best Original Score, in the film “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” by Tomas Alfredson. This is his third Oscar Nomination. He was nominated for his works: “The Costant Gardener”(2005) by Fernando Meirelles and the “The Kite Runner” (2007) by Marc Forster.

FFACE Presidential elections 2012

On the 4th of February, the current Spanish Presidency will end up.
During the FFACE meeting which will be held in Brussels, Luis Ivars will transfer the Presidency to one of the two candidates:
Karsten Fundal, representing Denmark, or Bernard Grimaldi, representing France.
Both candidates are part of the current FFACE Board.
To count on these two candidatures is a guarantee of continuity in the development of FFACE.

FFACE involved in Sountrack Cologne

The past two years FFACE has been arranging seminars and lectures at Soundtrack Cologne, the film music festival.
In 2011 we have arranged both informative seminars on how FFACE and ECSA works and why it is important, Panels on Copyright and the problems with rightholders and internet.
Portraits of particular film composers and their projects, and case presentation, of work cases from “the real life” of making film music, as well as seminar on game music and its particular issues.

The Alicante meeting finished with success

FFACE held its autumn meeting at Alicante, the President’s hometown, Luis Ivars.Jose Antonio Escrivá, Ciudad de la Luz Film Studios Director, welcomed the European Creators of Popular, Classical and Audiovisual music.
With great quorum, FFACE dealt all the most remarkable points of its European and internal agenda.
Likewise it was the meeting of the cohesion of the three pillars of ECSA. It was the right atmosphere to discuss the base of a new structure which will give more power and more representativeness to the creators under the big umbrella.

FFACE will hold his autumn meeting in Alicante.

The Board of FFACE held its spring meeting in the headquarters of SACEM in Paris.
Luis Ivars, Bernard Grimaldi, Pirre André Athane, Karsten Fundal, Chris Smith and John Groves ( virtually present ) dealt the recent FFACE issues. Special attention was given to the program of activities that will be discussed at the next meeting in Alicante as well as the European events where FFACE will participate (EFMD, Cannes, Cologne, Ubeda…)

FFACE held its fall meeting in Warsaw at Chopin University last 23rd of September 2010. The three pillars met to discuss their agendas before holding the ECSA Assembly.

The Artmusfair gave the opportunity to enjoy many interesting musical activities.
