The Creators Conference on music, creativity and author¡s rights organized by the creators themselves has taken place in the Théâtre du Vaudeville, Brussels, on the 3rd of February of 2012.
Alfons Karabuda, current chairman of ECSA, welcomed the participants and audience. The first panel was opened by Paul Brickhill, Harare Book Cafe where “Content” was discussed by Bernard Grimaldi -French composer-, Kjartan Olafsson -Icelandic composer-, Alain Chamfort -French singer&songwriter- and Sarah Rodgers -Bristish composer and conductor.
“Freedom of choice”, the second panel, counted on Helienne Lindvall -Swedish composer&journalist-, Helga Trupel -MEP-, Jean Bergevin -Fight against Piracy-, Andy Baum, Austrian singer&songwriter, Barbara Glowacka -DG Competition-, Rick Carnes -Songwriters Guild of America- and Robert Levine -Author-. Chair: Patrick Rackow.
The third panel “A Creative leap forward” was opened by María Martín-Prat -Head of Unit “Copyright”. Helen Smith -IMPALA-, Jorg Evers -ASCAP Award winner and composer-, Tanya Apli -Kings College London-, Alfons Karabuda -Chairman of ECSA- and Sabino Mendez -Spanish composer were in the debate.
Finally, John Groves -composer and music producer- gives way to the fourth panel “Take it or Leave it”. Chair: Ignasi Guardans. Eva Lichtenberger -MEP-, Jean-Marie Moreau -French songwriter, Staffan Nilsson -President EESC-, Chirs Smith -British composer-, Arne Konig -President of the European Federation of Journalist closed the intense and outstanding conference.
